How will you vote on Saturday? Take a Lincoln Squirrel poll

November 27, 2023

How do you plan to vote on the three issues at the Special Town Meeting on Saturday, Dec. 2? Or if you don’t plan to attend, how would you have voted? If you aren’t a Lincoln Squirrel subscriber, see the item between the red stripes near the top of the right-hand sidebar on this page. The polls will close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29 and the results will be reported in a Squirrel post and on LincolnTalk shortly thereafter. There is also a link to the polls on the public right-hand sidebar of the Lincoln Squirrel website for those who aren’t Lincoln Squirrel subscribers — please do not take any of the polls twice. Thanks.

At the November 2022 meeting the chair of the CCBC specifically stated that the $25 million option was “off the table” and said it 3 times.

Based upon this we approved going forward with a $12.5 Million (or less) option and an $18 Million (or less) option.

We never approved a $25 million option.
So is this a joke? The CCBC thinks that coming up with a $24,999,999.99 option is appropriate?

There should be an option for “none of the above” on the ballot. Otherwise it is an option between “which would you like to eat? rotten beef or rotten lamb.” I would prefer to not eat rotten food at all.

Building costs have skyrocketed so fast in the past year ( from $600 to $1100 per square foot) that it is necessary to pass the 100% design in order to create a Community Center that can accommodate the Council on Aging, Parks and Recreation and the LEAP programs. Peter vM

Absolutely agree with Jac. The last thing Lincoln needs to do is build a $25mm community center that would be used by maybe 1000 people a year?? Much less an $18mm or $12mm center. Let’s get rid of this community center project and figure out the most cost effective way to meet the HCA requirements.

Where is the compassion? The residents who need/use the services of the COA&HS are often our senior citizens and others with problems. They may not be the most vocal online and at meetings. Many have volunteered their services to the town over the years and it doesn’t seem right to withhold help for them now.
Please vote for the $25 M option.
