Addendum to Kanner letter
The letter to the editor about outdoor lighting regulations from Steven Kanner has been modified to reflect a paragraph that was inadvertently omitted when it was published on March 3.
Town meeting shuttle service offered; carpooling recommended
The Town of Lincoln Annual Town Meeting will take place Saturday, March 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Brooks School auditorium on Ballfield Road. As an open Town Meeting, all Lincoln citizens are encouraged to attend and participate. Lincoln residents should receive their Town Meeting packets, including the Town Report and the Financial Section and Warrant, on or about March 21. Due to the expected turnout for Town Meeting and the limited parking spaces available at the school complex, the town is asking residents to carpool. Also, the town is offering a shuttle service from the Lincoln commuter lot (the non-resident paved lot) to the school from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The shuttle will run continuously throughout Town Meeting.
Make preserves at deCordova on March 7
Try your hand at creating three types of preserved goods to take home at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum’s “Maker Workshop Series: Preserved Goods” on Saturday, March 7 from 1-3:30 p.m. With sustainable food expert Rosie Branson Gill, examine traditional preservation methods from Thoreau’s time as well as contemporary practices. Artist’s reception with Lincoln’s Mary Stechschulte on March 8
There will be an artist’s reception in conjunction with the show titled “Mary Stechschulte: Put Together” at the Concord Free Public Library (129 Main St., Concord) on Sunday, March 8 from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The show is on view at the Concord library until March 31. Stechschulte has been exhibiting mixed media work since the mid 1990s and has collectors throughout the country. Her love of language and design is evident in her collages, and her quirky work is exciting to look at and often draws a smile.
Performance of fairy tales on March 11
Storyteller and actress Sally Kindleberger will whisk you away to the enchanted world of fairy tales with stories, songs and poems at the Lincoln Public Library on Wednesday, March 11 at 3:30 p.m. Princesses and princes, wolves, and witches are just a few of the ingredients for this fabulous performance. “The Lorax” to be shown at deCordova on March 13
In conjunction with the exhibition Walden, revisited, join us in the galleries after hours for the movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic story of The Lorax, a tale of the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect nature, on Friday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your sleeping bag; we’ll provide the popcorn!
Student art exhibit at Lincoln Public Library; reception on March 19
Be sure to stop by the Lincoln Library this month to see a show of selected works by elementary and middle school students. Pieces on display include 5th-grade watercolors depicting scenes of winter light and shadow, kindergarten penguin sketches, and 4th-grade weavings inspired by Hopi and Navajo traditions and automations from the Industrial Revolution. Please join art teachers Colleen Pearce and Pam DiBiase for a special reception at the library on Thursday, March 19 from 4-5:30 p.m., and stay tuned for information about the annual district-wide art show coming up in the Hartwell building from May 19-26.

Come to the Friends of the Lincoln Library fine art spring fundraising gala, “Grown, Shown & Owned in Lincoln,” on Saturday, May 9 for an elegant evening at the library featuring the sale of fine art from the very best artists who live in Lincoln or have shown at the library’s own first-floor gallery. The event will also feature artists and art from the private collections of Lincoln residents. It promises to be a fun celebration of local taste and talent curated by local experts.
