Open mike night on March 9
The next LOMA (Lincoln Open-Mike Acoustic) night in Lincoln is on Monday, March 9 from 7-10 p.m. at the Lincoln Public Library. Perform or just come listen to acoustic music and spoken word. The theme for open mikers on this “SAMW Appreciation Night” will be songs (encouraged, but not mandated) related to Summer Acoustic Music Week, a music retreat in New Hampshire that has been a wellspring for local folk music.
Featured duo Fishken and Groves will perform a half-hour hour set starting around 8:30 p.m. David Fishken and Buffie Groves are talented guitarists and vocalists who create stunning harmonies. They have a special genius for selecting unusual and delightful songs as well as for their down-home stage repartee. So this should be a rollicking evening and a nice introduction to SAMW for those who have never attended and a reunion for those who have.
LOMA is a monthly event. Performers can sign up at the event or email Rich Eilbert at loma3re@gmail.com (before noon of the open-mike day) for a slot. Names of those who are signed up by 7:15 p.m. will be drawn at random. There is a sound system with mikes and instrumental pickups suitable for individuals or small groups playing acoustic-style.
