In case you missed it this summer…
Bemis Hall celebration
On July 24, Bemis Hall had a ribbon-cutting to celebrate improvements including an upgraded parking area and front entryway, new landscaping, and a new crosswalk with flashing lights. “This shows the care and attention people in Lincoln give to the little things,” Town Administrator Tim Higgins said at the ceremony. Higgins thanked everyone who helped design and implement the improvements, including tree warden Ken Bassett, facilities director Michael Haines, Council on Aging director Carolyn Bottum and the COA board, the Traffic Committee (Noah Eckhouse, Ken Hurd, Beth Ries and Alex McLean), DPW superintendent Chris Bibbo, the Lincoln Police Department, and Lynn Bower and Stonegate Gardens. Lincoln gets a green thumbs-up in the Globe
The Boston Globe published a snapshot of Lincoln on June 22 with a beautiful series of photos and text that highlighted the town’s “green vibe,” including the efforts of the Leaf Blower Study Committee, abundant conservation land and Codman Community Farm. The article also noted that Lincoln has the third-highest property tax rate in Massachusetts.
Bikes Not Bombs collectionThe Lincoln Recycling Committee’s collection to benefit Bikes Not Bombs collected 53 bikes, eight vintage milk crates, and lots of parts, clothing, and accessories. Residents from 10 different towns dropped off donations in the Hartwell parking lot on June 28. The bikes will be repaired and shipped to countries in Africa, Central America and the Caribbean to provide transportation for residents to improve access to education, healthcare and jobs. |
