Movie about democracy

“Lightworkers” — a movie in which director Bobby Roth interviewed Americans and chose the most relevant remarks to convey both the current threat to democracy and the importance of our coming together to safeguard it — will be shown on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7:00pm at the First Parish in Lincoln (white church). There will be time afterwards to share reactions and thoughts. The event is sponsored by the Racial Justice Advocates of the First Parish in Lincoln in association with the Social Justice Commission of St. Anne’s in-the-Fields Episcopal church and Lincoln Witness.

Film screening: Tuvalu”

The Lincoln Library Film Society will screen “Tuvalu” (1999), a virtually silent movie that relies on visual storytelling, body language, sound effects, and music rather than spoken conversation, on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6:00pm in the library.

Session on solar panels

CFREE will discuss solar panels in the fifth and final installment in its Home Sustainability Series on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7:00pm in the Lincoln Public Library’s Tarbell Room. CFREE members will provide advice on how to start getting solar in your home, and will cover both the benefits and potential risks. Registration recommended.

DA Ryan at DVSN event

District Attorney Marian Ryan will be the keynote speaker at the Domestic Violence Services Network, Inc. (DVSN) will host its annual Light in the Darkness Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:00pm at the Fairbank Community Center at 40 Fairbank Road in Sudbury. (The Lincoln Police Department has been a member of DVSN since 2002.) Ryan has created multiple best-in-class crime prevention programs and is a leader in domestic violence prevention and prosecution.

Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month each October, the vigil commemorates the lives lost in Massachusetts to domestic violence in the past year. Community members will read each victim’s story as their lives are represented by the reader, a rose, and a candle lit in their memory. A light supper will be served following the ceremony at this free event. Click here for more information or call 978-318-3421.
