Service on Saturday for Lucy Rapperport

Lucy Rapperport

A memorial service will be held at The Commons in Lincoln on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11:00am–1:00pm for Lucy Rapperport, who died on July 14 at the age of 95. Read her obituary here. Valet parking is available at the front entry, and a light lunch will be served. Burial will be after the memorial in the Lincoln Town Cemetery for those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Gropius House in Lincoln through the Historic New England Fund, or to the Mass Audubon Society.

Make a ceramic planter

The deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum will host “Sip and Sculpt: Ceramic Planter with a Friendly Face” on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1:00–3:00pm where participants will make planters in the shape of a human head, blending material, form, and flora, inspired by human figures in the park. More information and registration.

Great Pumpkin Smash

The sixth annual Great Pumpkin Smash at Codman Community Farms takes place on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10:00am–2:00pm. Bring your jack-o’-lanterns and decorative gourds to smash and feed to the Codman Farm pigs; enjoy live music, face painting, and farm food (vegan and gluten free options available); take a guided tour of the farm; and learn how to start composting in your home or with a curbside collection program. Remove stickers, candles, and other decorations from pumpkins and leave painted pumpkins at home. Suggested donation: $1 per pumpkin. Sponsored by the farm as well as the Lincoln and Concord chapters of Mothers Out Front and the Weston Community Children’s Association.
