LLCT annual meeting and firefly talk

The Lincoln Land Conservation Trust will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24 starting at 6:30pm at St. Anne’s in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, followed by a presentation at 7:15pm with Sara Lewis, renowned firefly expert and author. All are welcome.

ZBA seeks alternate member

The town is seeking a Lincoln resident interested in serving as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA is a volunteer board that considers applications and makes decisions on matters related to the town’s zoning bylaws and regulations. Alternate members participate in hearings and deliberations relating to the town’s zoning bylaws and regulations when called upon. Those interested in this volunteer position are invited to submit a brief statement of interest to Peggy Elder at elderp@lincolnma.gov. Hospice house seeks volunteers

Care Dimensions is actively seeking volunteers at its hospice house in Lincoln. As a hospice volunteer, you’ll greet family and friends when they come through the front door. Many volunteers also visit with patients in their rooms, offering companionship and conversation. You’ll have constant support from clinicians and a team of volunteers on site every day. No prior personal hospice experience is needed, and volunteer hours are flexible based on the time you have available. Author talk: “The Cure at Walden Pond”

Join author and psychotherapist Thomas Moore for a conversation about his newest book, The Cure at Walden Pond, with author Richard Higgins on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 2:00-3:00pm at the Walden Woods Project (44 Baker Farm Road, Lincoln). Drawing inspiration from Henry David Thoreau’s journals and Walden, Moore explores what Thoreau’s ideas can offer us in a world marked by distraction, consumerism, and uncertainty. Rappaport Lecture at deCordova by Hopinka

Visual artist and filmmaker Sky Hopinka (Ho-Chunk Nation/Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians) has been named the 2026 recipient of the Rappaport Prize by the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Hopinka’s Rappaport Art Prize Lecture will take place on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at the deCordova. His video, photo, and text work centers around personal positions of Indigenous homeland and landscape, designs of language as containers of culture expressed through personal, documentary, and nonfiction forms of media.
