Pet-friendly photo op benefits Phinney’s Friends

Bring your family to Pet Source in Littleton on Sunday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a picture with the Easter bunny, and enter to win a $50 gift basket. All proceeds will go to Phinney’s Friends, a Lincoln-based nonprofit that helps low-income people keep their pets by providing financial assistance and pet care. The Easter bunny is busy putting together his egg deliveries, but he loves to help animals in need. He’ll be thrilled to hug your kitty, your doggie and your entire family while posing for a picture. Pictures with the Easter bunny are $15, and you’ll get your best portrait with the fluffiest of rabbits via email. For an additional $5, you can try for a gift basket worth $50 in dog treats, toys and other supplies. No reservations needed.

Self-defense class for young women

The Lincoln Police in collaboration with Domestic Violence Services Network (DVSN) is offering a two-session RESIST self-defense class for all young women living in Lincoln or Sudbury on March 14 and 16 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. The goal of the course is to learn how to escape from an attacker by using instinct-based moves. On Day 1, we will talk about general safety and dating safety before learning and then practicing physical self-defense moves like strikes, blocks and knee strikes. On Day 2, students and instructors will don protective gear and participants will be “attacked” and use learned moves to escape. This part of the course is intense but amazing and empowering. The course is free, but space is limited. You must pre-register by emailing Jena Salon at jenasalon@gmail.com.
