Jubilee Mule will be the featured performers at the next Lincoln Open Mike Acoustic (LOMA) night at the Lincoln Public Library on Monday, Oct. 21 from 7-10 p.m. The group will play a half-hour set starting around 8:30 p.m.
Jubilee Mule is a virtuoso quintet that creates a unique sound described as a fusion of Bill Munro and Frank Zappa. Currents members are Tim Rowell (banjo/vocals), Tim Baldanzi (mandolin/vocals), Bethany Weiman (cello/vocals) and Julie Metcalf (fiddle). Jubilee Mule’s new compact disc Trouble in the Kitchen has garnered widespread acclaim.
LOMA is a monthly event of acoustic music and spoken-word performance. Performers can sign up at the event or email Rich Eilbert at loma3re@gmail.com before noon of the open-mike day for a slot. Names of those who are signed up by 7:15 p.m. will be drawn at random. LOMA has a sound system with mikes and instrumental pickups suitable for individuals or small groups playing acoustic-style. Local high school and college-age residents are encouraged to perform and/or listen to their friends play acoustically. We expect everyone will have a chance to perform one or two pieces.
Refreshments will be served. Upcoming featured artists include:
- November 18 — Neptune’s Car
- December 9 — Mark Stepakoff
