Lincoln goes for Coakley, Antia in election

ballotLincoln residents voted for Martha Coakley for governor by a healthy margin and Sharon Antia for state rep by a much smaller majority, though neither woman prevailed overall in her race.

Town voters opted for Coakley by a vote of 1,608  to 1,045 (58 percent to 38 percent, with the rest opting for minor candidates or write-ins). Antia, who ran as an independent for state representative from the Ninth Middlesex District against incumbent Thomas Stanley of Waltham, where most of the district lies, eked out a 45-vote victory among Lincoln voters with a tally of 1,254 to 1,209, or 50 percent to 48 percent. However, in the district overall, Stanley won by a landslide, 72 percent to 28 percent.
