The first Lincoln Arts and Farmers Market for the 2022 season will be Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Tack Room at 145 Lincoln Rd. The market will run weekly June-October. This year there will be more vendors, more produce, and more coffee along with music, food, arts and crafts. Lincoln Sudbury Friends of Music (LSFOM) invites all parents of music students and community members to its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at LSRHS in the Chorus Room (A211). Join us to get information, talk to board members, have questions answered, meet fellow music program supporters, and learn about opportunities to get involved. The Lincoln Public Library will host “Shake-scene” on Friday, June 10 at 1 p.m. in Bemis Hall. Join Shakespearian performers Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby for a rollicking ride through some of the bard’s finest poetry and most compelling characters in this original compilation of scenes, monologues and sonnets woven together with facts and lively banter. A Q&A period will follow the hour-long presentation. This program is cosponsored by the Friends of the Lincoln Library and the Friends of the COA.
The Lincoln METCO Parent Board will host Lincoln’s first annual Juneteenth celebration on Sunday, June 12 from 1-3 p.m. at Codman Field behind the Lincoln School grade 5-8 building. The event, whose theme is “Freedom, Resistance, Power, Strength,” will feature a live DJ and dancing, a bouncy house, face painting, poetry reading, lawn games, face painting, food trucks, vendor tables, and a performance by the Lincoln Public Schools step team. As part of the Friends of Modern Architecture–Lincoln’s Music in Modern Houses series, Yulia Musayelyan (flute) and Maxim Lubarsky (piano) will play Latin jazz and classical duets on Sunday, June 12 from 4–5 p.m. at the 1948 Schwann House in Lincoln. Join Lincoln Land Conservation Trust and Lincoln Parks & Rec for a family-friendly live snake program on June 15 at 2 p.m. in the Brooks Gym. Learn about New England’s snakes and get up close and personal with this fascinating reptiles. This is a free program, but donations are encouraged for those who are able to give. Donations support LLCT’s ability to offer free programming to the community.
The library will host a Summer Reading Program kickoff party on Wednesday, June 15 from 3:30–5:30 p.m. There will be ice cream, crafts, tattoos, balloon sculpting, Ed the magician, and more. Summer Reading Challenges and book lists will be available. The event will take place on the library lawn (we will move indoors if the weather is uncooperative). All ages welcome! “Elizabeth & Ben Anderson: Scottish Fiddle and Cello Duo” will take place under the tent at the Pierce House on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Blending Scottish tunes with lively rhythms and innovative harmonies, the pair create a sound rooted in tradition, inspired by the contemporary but completely original. This program is supported by a grant from the Lincoln Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Kids age 12 and up are invited to a Crimson Mystery Party at the Lincoln Public Library on Thursday, July 14 at 6 p.m. Sign up to be a character and come prepared to work together to solve the mystery. “Drumming About You!” will take place under the tent at the Pierce House on Friday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. The library is sponsoring the interactive event with Bob Bloom where everyone has a chance to play his array of colorful drums on legendary songs. All ages; no registration required. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the library’s Tarbell Room (check the library’s website or social media feeds by 9 a.m. that day).
The Lincoln Library Film Society will screen “L’Eclisse” (1962) on Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m. In the movie, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Monica Vitti, Alain Delon, and Francisco Rabal, a young woman meets a vital young man, but their love affair is doomed because of the man’s materialistic nature. Free and open to all.
We think of some animals like sharks, snakes, and spiders as scary, but are they really when we learn more about them? Many seemingly scary animals have important jobs in nature, and some even help people. Children of all ages are welcome learn about and meet some “not so scary animals.” Registration required; email dleopold@minlib.net.
