Sheryl Faye portrays Eleanor Roosevelt, who was the longest serving First Lady of the U.S. She was the first presidential spouse to hold press conferences, write a syndicated column, and speak at a national convention as well as advocating for women in the workplace, civil rights, Asian Americans, and World World II refugees. Don Seckler demonstrates Kyudo (pronounced “cue-do”), an ancient Japanese moving meditation and noncombative martial art. The focus is on “cleaning the mind” rather than marksmanship. The target becomes a mirror reflecting the quality of one’s mind at the moment of the arrow’s release. The presentation demonstrates the form and discusses the practice as it relates to Zen. Explore migration through the art of storytelling in “A Suitcase Story” on Friday, Oct. 11 at 12:30 p.m. in Bemis Hall. The International Institute of New England will provide information on their immigrant and refugee work and discuss how you can help support and welcome new Americans. The town will offer Covid booster vaccinations to seniors age 60+ on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the First Parish Church auditorium, across from Bemis Hall. Wear short sleeves and bring your insurance card. To sign up and/or arrange a ride, call 781-259-8811.

Local actors and musicians showcase their talents with humorous short holiday skits and songs, including a comical version of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol.”

Immediately following the annual COA&HS Holiday Open House, Peter Stewart and Lincoln’s Doo-Wop Team will lead the singing of traditional holiday classics.
