Author Lorenz Finison will discuss his newest book, Bicycling Inclusion and Equity: Histories of New England and Beyond. The Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable invites the public to a free wine and beer tasting to support its annual Shower for Shelters at Spirits of Maynard (4 Digital Way, Suite 3, Maynard) on Friday, April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The wines are imported from Italy and France by Kermit Lynch. Light refreshments will be provided by the Roundtable. There will also be a brief presentation by a survivor.

The Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable will host an event for parents of students heading off to college on Tuesday, May 7 from 7–8 p.m. on Zoom. The conversation will touch on healthy relationships, situations students may encounter at school, experiences some students have had, and supports that are often lacking when students get to college. Don Seckler demonstrates Kyudo (pronounced “cue-do”), an ancient Japanese moving meditation and noncombative martial art. The focus is on “cleaning the mind” rather than marksmanship. The target becomes a mirror reflecting the quality of one’s mind at the moment of the arrow’s release. The presentation demonstrates the form and discusses the practice as it relates to Zen.
