Door-to-door salesman? (Lincoln Through the Lens)

January 12, 2016

Anyone home? This turkey appeared recently at the ktichen door of Brooks Road resident Dan Boynton.

“Anyone home?” This turkey appeared recently at the kitchen door of Cambridge Turnpike resident Dan Boynton—perhaps looking for a post-Thanksgiving handout.

In past years, I regularly saw one or more turkeys peering through my front or back doors. Several regularly camped out for the night on the back step leading to the door. They also left an unwelcome amount of turkey residue. We had one favorite that we called Gorgeous George. He was quite impressive with his courting dances and parades with his three females and little gobblers. They all disappeared suddenly about a year ago. Mysteriously! There were getting to be too many of them all over the place. We have our suspicions about what happened. Fortunately, there are other smaller varieties of delightful birds in the area.
