Kids stay calm and spell on in annual LSF bee

April 23, 2015

The Lincoln School Foundation’s eighth annual Spelling Bee attracted its biggest-ever roster of participants (136) from the Lincoln and Hanscom schools to benefit the LSF, which awards grants to enrich the curriculum, extend professional development, and enhance the school and community partnership.

“Through the generosity of donors like yourself, the Lincoln School Foundation is able to provide our educators with funds to enhance their curriculum in creative ways, pilot innovative programs with students, and improve their practice through professional development. Grants awarded last year positively impacted the educational experience for hundreds of students across nearly every subject including art, music, math, science, foreign language, library, literacy and technology. We are grateful for the partnership we have with the LSF and thank all of you who support their efforts,” Superintendent of Schools Becky McFall told the audience at the March 29 event.

The LSF in turn thanked those who helped with the spelling bee—McFall, assistant superintendent Patricia Kinsella, principals Sharon Hobbs and Beth Ludwig, Lincoln police officer Ian Spencer; Parks & Recreation director Dan Pereira, and and Lincoln teachers Debbie Carpenito, Joe Colombo, Scot Dexter and Jennifer Mastrullo—as well as local businesses that sponsored the Bee: Barrett/Sotheby’s International Realty, Budget Printing of Concord, Cambridge Trust Company, Coldwell Banker, Doherty’s Garage, Donelan’s Supermarket, Doug Carson Real Estate, Marquis Tree Service, Mystic Valley Music Together, Something Special, Twin Pines Landscaping, Inc., West Cambridge Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and Whistle Stop Café.
