The Lincoln Library Film Society presents “Waking the Dead” (2000, rated R) on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Tarbell Room. When one man’s ‘70s idealism confronts his ‘80s aspirations, he begins an emotional rollercoaster that brings ghosts back to life and the ultimate question: does love conquer all, even death?
Come see the Lincoln Middle School performance of “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”based on Kate DiCamillo’s novel of the same name. Edward Tulane is an expensive and vain toy rabbit. He is loved by a little girl named Abilene, but he is too self-centered to care. He is accidentally thrown overboard on a sea voyage, and so begins his years-long miraculous journey, during which Edward learns about love. Suitable for ages 8+.
Tickets will be sold at the door 30 minutes before showtime: $10 for adults, $5 for students/seniors/Lincoln Public Schools employees (cash or check only). The production budget is entirely funded by ticket proceeds.

“Community Gathering: Making Sense of the Moment” with Mothers Out Front is an opportunity for everyone to come together on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 3–4 p.m. in the Lincoln Public Library Tarbell Room as we make sense of the moment after the presidential election. We will talk about what we collectively see as important priorities for our democratic nation. We will consider how we can get involved in upholding democratic values that support all peoples. We may not have all the answers, but we will come with curiosity, open-mindedness, and respect as we learn from one another.

The Lincoln-based GRALTA Foundation is hosting a pair of speakers to discuss “the Holy Land problem” on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. in Bemis Hall. The speakers are Palestinian scientist and author Mazin Qumsiyeh, founder of the Palestine Museum of Natural History and Palestine Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability as well as a professor at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities; and Mark Braverman, a retired clinical psychologist and trauma consultant, Palestinian rights activist, and executive director of Kairos.

Fortune’s Favor is known for the holiday classic “I Do All My Christmas Shopping at the Dump,” the title cut of their 2017 CD. LOMA is a monthly open mike night event with mikes and instrumental pickups suitable for individuals or small groups playing acoustic-style.
