Lincoln Sudbury Friends of Music (LSFOM) invites all parents of music students and community members to its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at LSRHS in the Chorus Room (A211). Join us to get information, talk to board members, have questions answered, meet fellow music program supporters, and learn about opportunities to get involved. There will be committee reports, a review of open positions, nominations, and elections. Board members may be elected from among LSFOM members and the community at large. The Lincoln Public Library will host “Shake-scene” on Friday, June 10 at 1 p.m. in Bemis Hall. Join Shakespearian performers Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby for a rollicking ride through some of the bard’s finest poetry and most compelling characters in this original compilation of scenes, monologues and sonnets woven together with facts and lively banter. A Q&A period will follow the hour-long presentation. This program is cosponsored by the Friends of the Lincoln Library and the Friends of the COA.
As part of the Friends of Modern Architecture–Lincoln’s Music in Modern Houses series, Yulia Musayelyan (flute) and Maxim Lubarsky (piano) will play Latin jazz and classical duets on Sunday, June 12 from 4–5 p.m. at the 1948 Schwann House in Lincoln. “Elizabeth & Ben Anderson: Scottish Fiddle and Cello Duo” will take place under the tent at the Pierce House on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Blending Scottish tunes with lively rhythms and innovative harmonies, the pair create a sound rooted in tradition, inspired by the contemporary but completely original. This program is supported by a grant from the Lincoln Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

“Drumming About You!” will take place under the tent at the Pierce House on Friday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. The library is sponsoring the interactive event with Bob Bloom where everyone has a chance to play his array of colorful drums on legendary songs. All ages; no registration required. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the library’s Tarbell Room (check the library’s website or social media feeds by 9 a.m. that day).
The Lincoln Library Film Society will screen “L’Eclisse” (1962) on Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m. In the movie, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Monica Vitti, Alain Delon, and Francisco Rabal, a young woman meets a vital young man, but their love affair is doomed because of the man’s materialistic nature. Free and open to all.

LincFam presents a family concert to benefit the SVdP Lincoln and Weston Food Pantry on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 3:30–5 p.m. on the Pierce House lawn. Bring chairs and blankets to a concert by songwriter and Lincoln parent Kat Chapman and enjoy offerings from Chillwagon Ice Cream. Suggested donation: $20 per car/family, and food items are welcome. All proceeds benefit the food pantry.
The Lincoln METCO Coordinating Committee’s Downsize for Diversity fundraiser is seeking volunteers for its final two-day Estate Sale Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 18 Cerulean Way. We will be selling off all pre-Covid inventory of fine china, pottery, linens, luxe decor, estate jewelry, small antiques, holiday décor, and other curiosities donated by generous supporters from all over eastern Massachusetts. The Paul J. Cronin Memorial Lecture at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum will take place at the museum on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 6:30–8 p.m. The event is a conversation among leading museum figures Candice Hopkins, executive director of the Forge Project; Julie Decker, director/CEO of the Anchorage Museum; and Jane Winchell, director of the Art & Nature Center and leader of the Museum Climate & Environment Initiative at the Peabody Essex Museum. The panel will share ideas with one another about the relationship of art and arts organization to climate change discourse. They’ll also reveal ways in which their organizations are forging connections between cultural, artistic, and natural resources.

All are welcome to an outing of the Transcendentalist Running & Cycling Club led by Rev. Nate Klug of the First Parish in Lincoln on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 8–9 a.m. Runners and cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to join Nate for an hour of exercise, spirituality, and community. We’ll meet outside the church across from the library, stretch and say hello, and then hear a short passage of inspiration from one of the Transcendentalists. Then we’ll take off on a short run or bike ride through Lincoln. One person will lead the run, another person will lead the bike ride. After 40 minutes, we’ll meet back at the church to drink lemonade and reflect on what came up for us during our exercise.
